Monday July 22 HarpersFerry Hostel 60 Point of Rocks Community Park, Point of Rocks, MD 48.2 This is a community park in the town of Point of Rocks, about .3 miles off the trail Tuesday July 23 Point of Rocks community park 48.2 White’s Ferry, MD 35.5 We’ll be camping in a private field, owned and loaned to us by the ferry boat operator; this is the ferry to Leesburg, VA Wednesday July 24 White’s Ferry 35.5 Seneca Creek Park, near Riley’s Lock 22.8 We’ll be camping at a state park, with special permission, close to a historic canal lock. Thursday July 25 Seneca Creek Park 22.8 Marsden Tract Campground, south of Great Falls Visitor’s Center 11.5 We have the entire campground to ourselves! No road access, but we have a plan for food and water! Friday, July 26 Marsden Tract 11.5 St. Stephens Church, 1525 Newton St. NW, Washington DC Not on canal any more! This route is still under construction! We are looking for a shady pleasant route after we leave the canal. Anticipated milage: ≈13 miles.

 

Important notes:

1. The majority of walkers will join the Walk from Harpers Ferry, WV to the White House (63.5 miles). The initial leg from Camp David to Harpers Ferry (33.8 miles) will be more strenuous, will require backcountry camping, and will have only limited support (i.e. sag wagon).
